Our love affair with Bronson Pizza began through a common series of events. We had attended a party held by one of our friends on a cold mid-winter Friday night. It was just about 3 AM, and only the hardcore partiers and night owls were left at what had been a quite raucous house party. In between games of Super Mario 3 on the host’s Nintendo, an associate of ours ordered some pizza from Bronson Pizza. It arrived promptly and everyone dug in. It may have been the fact that it was so late, it may have been the fact that we were surprisingly hungry, or maybe just the fact that the pizza really was that good, but our slice of pepperoni pizza was highly enjoyable. Being the pizza connoisseurs that we want to be, we inquired into its origins. “Bronson Pizza, the best pizza in town,” replied the man who had ordered. We filed the name away, and have enjoyed Bronson Pizza ever since.

When it came time to review Bronson Pizza, I was excited because I knew what was ahead. We ordered a large cheese pizza on a Sunday night. It came 20 minutes later (!), hot and fresh. Was it a slow night? Maybe. Were we pleased? Very. Bronson Pizza makes a pie that is very greasy and cheesy and this time appeared to be no exception. We popped in a South Park DVD and dug in. As usual, the cheese was great: chewy, good flavour, slightly browned, and in good amounts. The crust was a good thickness, golden brown and crunchy on the surface with a chewier centre. Sauce-wise, it was not so much ‘lacking’ as it was ‘not outstanding.’ Somewhat weak and thin, it still had some noticeably good spices in it, so it wasn’t without flavour. The sauce was buried under the cheese and grease, which is to be expected. The grease factor for Bronson Pizza is just about perfect. It’s an abundant, flavourful grease that definitely improves the pizza.

Overall, Bronson Pizza may very well be the best pizza in the city. It’s certainly up there. If you like your pizza greasy, cheesy with a good-sized crust, you won’t be disappointed with Bronson Pizza, especially if you’re up late at a party and someone happens to order it.
